Far Away Sea
A downloadable soundtrack
A generative ambient music piece created in Max/MSP for The People's Radio Jam. Named after the Robert Burns Poem 'On the Seas and Far Away'
Cantered around a pentatonic major scale to lessen dissonance.
Notes are generated on certain beats, some moving up and down at random then resetting to a central note.

Each note is transposed into a pentatonic major scale, rounding up or down to the nearest note in the mode. (Adapted from this tutorial)

These notes are then played with VSTs, in this case all Spitfire Labs.
My own sample used was me reading a Robert Burns poem but granulated with the Granular-to-go inbuilt plug-in. Using Valhalla Supermassive to add some reverb.

Each part could be turned on and off with gates or the slider for the sample.

The visuals were made with Jit, taking the output of the music with a little effect to blur the frames together.
